Our Home

Finally took some pictures of the outside of our house. This is the front yard where we have two giant elm trees that will give us great shade during the summer for our kitchen and for our living room. The kitchen is on the right (if you are facing the house) and is one of the first things we plan to work on in a year or two. It is rather small when compared to other kitchens we've run across but it is functional and right now serves our needs. Well almost except at 10:00 pm when I have a sink full of dishes that I'd love to put in a dishwasher but instead resign myself to the fact that I am, until Wy gets a few years on him, the only dishwasher in the house and will have to do them then or wake up to dirty dishes plus new dirty dishes from breakfast. Ahhh the life of a chief cook and bottle washer!
On the side of the house going around to the back I have a clothesline which I am so excited about. I love hanging laundry and then bringing it in and folding it and being able to enjoy that fresh smell that no amount of promised added freshness from a bottle of detergent can bring. I also love the crispness of the clothes that have hung outside. Reminds me of my childhood and playing in the yard, running through the sheets and blankets that Grandma Teuscher or mom had hung that morning, the scent of sun as you wove in and out trying not to get tagged it or get caught playing in the clean clothes. In the first picture you can also see the beginning of our deck and the first few stairs. We have a covered deck out the back door which I'm sure will be used long into the upcoming summer nights unless winter really is here to stay for the duration then we'll just gaze upon them longingly from the warmth of the computer room! The deck has two built in benches and patiently waiting hooks for pots of colorful flowers that will be planted as soon as it stops snowing, freezing, raining, snowing, freezing, you get the idea.
Photo 2 shows the house and property around from the kitchen. On this side of the house there is another bedroom that will be reduced in size when we remodel the kitchen, the master bath, our GIANT walk-in-closet and then our room takes up the rest of the house along this side. We have a storage shed at the front of our property almost straight across from the front fence that Brad will use for his reloading equipment and for food storage. Then we have a pretty good sized garden area where I noticed yesterday we have a rhubarb plant. All the yummy potential for that plant wafted through my dreams last night: strawberry rhubarb pie among the favorite!
After the garden area there is a little storage shed that will be torn down and then the shop/stalls/hay shed at the very back.
Photo 3 shows just a bit of our living room. The bottom right corner is where the wood stove will go as we have a set up already just missing the stove. This is funny but the living room in this house is almost identical to how we had painted our living room in the house in Kuna. The wall behind the TV is just a bit darker than the darker wall we had. It really made me feel like this was the house we were supposed to get and then glad that we did! Never fear though: those colors won't be staying too long as we have outgrown that hue.
Photo 4/5 shows the view out our bedroom window. All along that back fence we have fruit trees. I haven't discovered what we have exactly but I do know that one of them is a plum tree. There is a little building in the backyard that the previous owner used as an office and I thought would make a great playhouse/guesthouse. Brad thought it would make a great man-cave with lots of exercise equipment and testosterone. In the end we filled it with all the stuff that has been in storage for 2 years and turned it into our own private storage shed. (and now, thanks to the word private I'm singing My Own Private Idaho - hee hee hee)
The last photo is just another view of our backyard. We have a fire pit in the back corner and are anticipating long nights of hot dog roasting and marshmallow toasting and visiting with friends and family.
It was a rough start but after two months this has turned from a house we bought into our home. Wyatt has stopped asking to go sleep at his other house and loves his new room that he shares with Conner. We can't keep him inside as he loves to run in his yard and play and go visit the horses and check on Brody and just be outside. And I feel okay about letting him be out there as it is our yard and he can only get into our stuff and not bother the neighbors stuff. It is ours and I'm so happy.
