Wyatt turns 6!

Holy cow we have a 6 year old. I know it's repetitive but I keep asking where does the time go? I love my little boy and love to tell him about his arrival. I'm amazed that after 6 years I remember all the details. This time I told a bit more of the story and went back to the Friday before he was born. I hadn't been feeling well all week with leg aches and back ache (now I know that's what the professionals call LABOR! Back Labor) and so we decided Brad would drive me to work and then pick me up when the day was over. However my wonderful friend Staci wasn't feeling so hot that day either and since we both had last hour prep we took leave a bit early that day and she drove me home. When we got to my house she sat in the rocking chair while I laid on the couch and visited with me, even offering to take care of a few household chores. I told her no that I just wanted to sleep and for her to go home and rest as well. For some reason Wy really got into that part of the story; guess I should have included that when I first began telling him about his big day.
He has had a busy year and has grown into quite the little helper. One day he got up, made his bed, got dressed and made himself breakfast all before waking me up. I must say I was quite surprised and really, honestly felt like a bad parent. It has been really hard for me to give him more freedom to take care of things around the house but I guess that's part of growing up and teaching my child how to do things. Sometimes though I just think it would go so much faster and so much smoother if I just did it myself! I also think it's me resisting the fact that my little boy is growing up!
He started piano lessons in September and has a done a great job learning his songs and scales. Pretty soon I'll have to hand him off to another teacher but I'm having fun teaching him right now. He has learned to read and loves school. We're pretty sure he has a crush on his teacher and when I do something that he feels isn't the correct way he tells me: I'm going to have to tell my teacher. I think she knows way too much about the happenings in the Patterson home!  I have enjoyed volunteering in his class and am very grateful for his teacher. Kindergarten teachers are amazing!
He is also a great older brother. He takes care of Conner and Lane and every Monday and Wednesday while I'm doing preschool he's running his "school" and teaching Lane. I'm not sure Lane is aware of this but Wy has fun with that. He also graduated to his own room for the time being. When the baby comes he'll share with the our new little guy but he has really taken to having his own room and every day I find new things that he's moved into his room.
We are so proud of our Super Wy and can't imagine our family without his goofy, energetic, imaginative little soul.
