So before I begin let me just say: 1. I know it's March 2013 but I started this post back in the fall and forgot to finish it; 2. I know the middle four pics are blurry fuzzy but they were part of the experience so I had to include them.
That being said, let me begin the Halloween story.....
I picked Mr. Wyatt up at school and jetted over to the annual Mayor walk at the Rec Center. I thought myself very brave to attempt this all on my own with the three boys. By the time we finished, returned to our truck and got the heck out of there I just thought myself plain stupid and crazy and promised to remind myself next Halloween to just skip it! We rushed home to meet Brad, feed the boys and get them ready for the super, duper trick-or-treat extravaganza. Wyatt was our Incredible Hulk, Conner our Super Spiderman with acute spidey senses and Lane was an adorably stuffed red M&M. I decided to get in on the action with my purple martian wig (part of my sis's costume ages ago at a Halloween party we hosted in Boise) and 3-D glasses from the movie theater. I kept forgetting that I had the wig on until passersby would comment; instead of being embarrassed though I embraced my odd look and had so much fun!
We started our grand door knocking adventure at our neighbors homes. The kids were so excited to show both couples their costumes. I'm so glad we have such good neighbors who are so kind to our kids. The kids love them to pieces!
After visiting the neighbors we loaded up and headed to our favorite neighborhood for this special night. It is amazing how many houses get into the spirit of the holiday and the boys were really impressed by the decorations. Wy would run ahead of us to the next house and when we caught up he, Brad, Conner and Lane would venture up to the door and say trick-or-treat. By the end of the night Lane was pretty good at saying the phrase and had caught on that there was good stuff being put into his pumpkin basket. We were able to do about an hour before Conner and Lane were too tired and cold to do any more; but Wy was on fire. He kept saying one more house, one more house and so that request led us to this house:
I know you can't really tell but in order to get to the door the boys had to walk through a tunnel guarded by gargoyles. Brad tried to get Wy to lead the way but he refused as he just knew something or someone was going to jump out at him. Nothing did and they safely made it through the tunnel and fog to the front door and back again to the sidewalk. After that, Wy was ready to go home too.
And finally for a spooky treat I made pizza for the boys in the shape of their initials. They thought that was really fun!
