Life on the road or our Family Vacation

July seems to have been spent mostly in the truck traveling from one end of Utah to the other and from Utah to Oregon via Idaho. Although the traveling has a way of taking its toll we did manage to have quite the enjoyable time. Brad whiled away the long moments of a stop over at Wal*Mart by taking pictures of himself - look at that grin! You'd never know that twenty minutes before he was fast asleep.
No photos please, my toes are exposed and I have truck hair! That's what Conner seems to be saying after being in the truck for a mere five hours and only four more to Boise and Aunt Sheri's!

After a pit stop at McD's Wy was occupied with his new toy from the movie The Last Airbender.
It was okay until the "boulders" that came with the toy were launched into the front seat and then there was a strict no toy playing code enforced.
We arrived in Boise Thursday night and were able to visit with Brad's sister Sheri and her two daughters. Friday was Conner's 1st birthday and Aunt Sheri gave him his very first haircut (see photo below: he really does have eyes!). I managed to squeeze in Moxi Java time with Staci - THANKS!!!! and a nice run in the early morning hours. We then took everyone to Cold Stone (oh how I've missed really good ice cream!) for ice cream to celebrate his birthday and then we loaded the boys into the truck for the three hour drive to Burns where spent two days for Brad's ten year class reunion. We stayed with Uncle Chris and his wife and had a lot of fun. The boys played at the park Friday evening to get the wiggles out a bit. Brad took Conner down the really big slide which Wy had already found and gone down multiple times before the three of us had finished our lunch. It was fun to meet the people that Brad talks about from high school and as always it was fun to see Chris and Channey, Ma and Pa, Sean and his family. We attended sacrament meeting Sunday morning and then we headed back to Boise to stay one more night with Sheri. We did take a detour back into Boise and went to visit Beth and Fred in Nampa, Dennis in Kuna and we drove by our house to show Wyatt where he used to live.

The entire trip we told Wyatt that if he behaved we had a surprise for him Monday when we got to Salt Lake. However we had to make an unscheduled stop to fix the truck (ain't that the way it goes?) so we didn't leave Boise until 11 that morning and I was sick so we made many, many pit stops along the way and didn't make it to SLC until 4:30. We had planned on taking the boys to Hogle Zoo and rushed and barely made it through the gates at 5:00 but made it we did and had a blast watching Wy enjoy his surprise. When we walked through the gate and he realized where we were he had only one request: to find Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman (the animals from the movie Madagascar). We did see a giraffe but that was the only one from that particular group of animals. He was satisfied with the tigers and sticking his head inside the lion's "mouth". He got to buy a toy from the gift shop and he purchased a baby elephant like the one he saw with it's mommy.
Conner seemed to have a good time. He pulled himself up higher in the stroller when he saw he elephants and got really excited watching them. He and Brad tried posing by a really angry gorilla (see photo below) but the silly guy moved too fast. Right before we took this picture the gorilla had pounded on the glass and was super angry. I think a group of kids that came in after us had hit the glass but I learned that I never want to run into an angry gorilla!
This elephant spits water and Brad was torturing Wy with it. Luckily it had run out of water and so it was more air than water but still our son squealed like a girl - too funny.
